DIFFICULTY Medium
LENGTH 22 km
DURATION 8:00 horas
OBSERVATION
Path divided into 3 sections. Until San Ginés, until New Place and until the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Cabeza.
It is the traditional path of the Pereguinos that go to the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Cabeza and is frequented throughout the year, both day and night.
This road is basically based on the Cordel de los Molinos, declared of Tourist Interest in Andalusia. It is one of the most emblematic landscapes of Sierra Morena. Through a narrow path that is constantly rising, among autochthonous shrub vegetation such as lentiscus, rosemary and cistus, we will reach the first San Ginés rest area.
From San Gines, through a more gentle and comfortable path we will enter the National Game Reserve of Lugar Nuevo, where the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park begins. It is a very beautiful place with an abundance of deers and fallow deers among other species. Later we will cross the seventeenth century bridge over the Jandula River, where we can take a short break before finishing the hardest ascent of this route to reach the town of Sanctuary.
In this place of pilgrimage, the Pilgrimage of the Virgen de la Cabeza is celebrated on the last weekend of April, declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest.
